Dump Valve
Dump valve is a system developed to keep turbo performance at the highest level. The purpose of this system is to prevent the pressure inside the turbocharged vehicles from affecting the compressor turbine due to the closure of the throttle.
In vehicles with turbocharged engines, the throttle closes as soon as we take our foot off the accelerator pedal, but the turbo is still operational at this time. Therefore, the air coming from the compressor is compressed inside and creates high pressure. This pressure creates an adverse effect on the turbo and causes it to slow down. The dump valve changes this situation and sends the pressure formed inside to the intake manifold. In this way, instead of causing the turbo to slow down, the gas is normally ejected from the intake manifold thanks to the dump valve. We feel the effect of the dump valve when we take our foot off the gas and then press the gas again. Because in the meantime, the turbo continues to work without losing anything from its performance.
